The GC Digital Research Institute (GCDRI) Workshop Series

Six sessions over 5 weeks – January 29 – February 27, 2021

Application due: December 7th, 11:59pm

Are you interested in using digital tools in your research, but don’t know where to start? Do you want to learn more about digital technologies in a supportive group of your peers?

The GC Digital Research Institute Workshop Series is an introduction to core digital research skills that can be applied widely to different kinds of projects. Participants will attend a series of remote workshops on consecutive weekends from January 29, 2021- February 27, 2021, to develop basic digital research skills and connect with others in an interdisciplinary context.

To accommodate a remote-learning environment, the DRI this year will consist of six Zoom sessions. Our kickoff event is on Friday, January 29, at 5pm, and will be followed five consecutive Saturday morning sessions, from January 30th to February 27, from 10:00am-12:30pm. Participation is expected in all six sessions. Following the core institute, participants will have the option of registering for elective workshops on topics such as Mapping, Archiving, and Web Development. Beyond our Zoom meetings, DRI will also include regular asynchronous activities, as well as informal co-working sessions between each synchronous workshop. By applying, you agree to participate as much as possible in the asynchronous as well as synchronous activities.

Participation is free, and open to graduate students, faculty, and staff at the Graduate Center; however, applications are required. All levels of experience are welcome. Applications are due by 11:59 pm on Monday, December 7, 2020. More information about previous institutes and what to expect as well as a link to the application can be found on the GC DRI website https://gcdri.commons.gc.cuny.edu/.
