About the Project
The project is a digitally annotated version of Paul Metcalf’s Genoa, a novel comprised largely of clips from disparate sources, including Herman Melville’s novels, Christopher Columbus’s diary, and L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics. I have archived Metcalf’s papers for the New York Public Library’s Berg Collection, and in addition to providing full citations for each reference I will utilize scans of research material, notes, and drafts to provide the reader with a multilayered sense of how the novel was composed. The result will be a superior pedagogical tool for students and teachers of Metcalf.
