“MOOCs and Other Hyped Disruptions” – George Otte

October 21, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Mon, Oct 21, 6:30 – 8pm: George Otte “MOOCs and Other Hyped Disruptions”

The GC Composition and Rhetoric Community is delighted to invite you to join us in GC room 5409 on Monday, October 21st from 6:30 – 8pm.

George Otte (CUNY’s Director of Academic Technology, Chief Academic Officer of the School of Professional Studies, and member of the GC Doctoral Faculty in English, Urban Education and Interactive Technology and Pedagogy) will lead a discussion about “MOOCs and Other Hyped Disruptions.”

Before the meeting, you are welcome to visit George’s blog, where he has tracked the hype, hysteria and some truths about MOOCs. His most recent post (yesterday) discusses how MOOCs now come in all shapes and sizes– and considers how they may become one tool used to challenge higher ed’s current “increasingly expensive and possibly unsustainable business model, especially in these days of shrinking public support.”

George’s post is at https://purelyreactive.commons.gc.cuny.edu

We will have a couple of pizzas and soft drinks. If you prefer to attend the meeting remotely, please contact Andrew as soon as possible to make arrangements at [email protected]
